Where to Stay in Temecula: Best Hotels and Vineyard Resorts
The best hotels in Temecula wine country, from vineyard resorts to boutique inns. A personal guide to the most relaxing and scenic stays surrounded by vines.

Why Temecula is Worth Visiting
My first trip to Temecula was in the summer of 2019. Back then, there were fewer wineries and places to stay, and the whole valley felt like a quiet countryside escape.
Today, it’s much livelier, with stylish boutique hotels, farm-to-table restaurants, and vineyard experiences that keep getting better each year.
According to the Temecula Valley Winegrowers Association, there are now 47 wineries across the region (as of april 2025) , making it one of the fastest-growing wine destinations in Southern California.

Temecula offers the charm of wine country without the crowds of Napa or Sonoma. It’s relaxed, sun-soaked, and surrounded by rolling vineyards that feel more Mediterranean than Californian.
The region is perfect for a weekend escape, being close enough to Los Angeles (a 2-hour drive) or San Diego (a 1-hour drive).
Here you can start your morning with a hot-air balloon ride over the vineyards, spend the afternoon wine tasting among olive trees, and end the day with dinner overlooking the valley at sunset.
Temecula combines family-owned estates with elegant resort-style wineries, creating a mix of authenticity and sophistication that’s rare to find in Southern California.
When to Visit Temecula
Temecula is beautiful year-round, but each season offers a different mood.
Spring is the most peaceful and beautiful season for wine tasting and outdoor time. Bright green leaves, fresh air, and the valley is full of wildflowers.
Summer brings long sunny days and hot weather. It’s excellent for tasting near the pool area or under umbrellas, but too hot for walking around.

Autumn, the harvest season, fills the air with the scent of ripe grapes. It’s ideal if you love autumn views, seasonal cuisine, and full-bodied red wines. It’s still warm during the day, but it could be cold in the evening.
Winter is calm and quiet, perfect for a romantic stay or spa weekend by the fireplace. Even on cooler days, the sun often shines, keeping the valley warm enough for afternoon tastings on the terrace.
Temecula has a great mix of boutique hotels, vineyard resorts, and cozy inns, each with its own charm depending on what kind of getaway you're dreaming about.
Europa Village
My first Temecula experience was at Europa Village. It's hard to believe, but back in 2019, the property was much smaller, with just The Inn on the hill and C'est la Vie winery nearby.
Today, the village has expanded to include two new tasting spaces, Bolero and Vienza, as well as another hotel, Bolero Casitas.
The Inn at Europa Village
3.5-star hotel

It’s a small, B&B-style hotel, privately owned and operated, with a limited number of rooms. Parking is included in the rate, and breakfast is provided as a voucher for their restaurant, Bolero.
I've stayed at The Inn a couple of times, and it remains my favorite. Its hillside setting keeps it quiet and peaceful, far from the winery buzz. With only ten rooms spread across two levels, it feels very intimate and personal.

Some of the rooms offer beautiful vineyard views (Deluxe King Balcony Vineyard View, Vineyard Master Suite, and Cabernet Junior Suite) that you can enjoy from both your balcony and the terrace below. The mornings and sunsets here are truly special. Standard King and Deluxe King Balcony rooms overlook the courtyard instead.
After last year’s renovation, the rooms have been given a stylish update — more comfortable and elegant than before, yet still keeping that original charm and cozy atmosphere.

If it’s your first visit to Temecula, I’d recommend starting here. The property is conveniently located within walking distance of wineries, tasting rooms, an Italian café, and a Spanish restaurant, making it an easy and beautiful introduction to the valley.
Europa Village also hosts concerts and seasonal events - from wine-blending experiences to open-air symphony nights under the stars. If you’ve been following my Instagram, this is exactly where I enjoyed a live symphony concert under the sky, and had a wine-blending session.
Bolero at Europa Village
Bolero is the Spanish part of Europa Village. It includes the Bolero Casitas hotel (10 rooms) and the Bolero Restaurante, both inspired by the warmth and energy of Spain.
The menu is based on traditional tapas and coastal Mediterranean flavors, with dishes like paella, grilled octopus, and perfectly cooked steaks paired with bold red wines. The kitchen is led by Chef Hany Ali, who brings a modern California touch to classic Spanish recipes, using local ingredients and bright, rustic flavors.

Bolero also produces its own wines - aromatic Albariño, the easy-to-drink Libido Red Blend, and others that pair beautifully with the food. If you prefer something refreshing, try their house sangria, light and fruity, perfect for sunny afternoons on the terrace.

Bolero Casitas at Europa Village
I didn’t stay at Bolero Casitas, mainly because there are no vineyard views from the rooms. The design is modern, and the location is convenient, right next to the restaurant and wineries. Still, it feels more like a resort than a countryside escape.
Carter Estate Winery and Resort
4-star hotel
I stayed at Carter Estate Winery and Resort once, but didn’t get a chance to explore their whole area with pool, winery, or restaurant, which are all located on the property.
The photos on their website make the rooms look charming and cozy, and while the layout is nice (especially the private patios that open directly to the vineyards), the interiors feel a bit dated in person.

The biggest advantage here is the location: it’s right in the middle of Temecula Valley, surrounded by vineyards and within minutes of several other wineries, making it convenient for tasting and exploring without much driving.

Still, waking up and stepping right into the vines is a lovely experience, especially in the early morning light when the valley is quiet. With a few updates, this place could easily become one of the best vineyard stays in Temecula.
Temecula Creek Inn
4-star hotel
If you prefer peace, greenery, and the feeling of being surrounded by nature, Temecula Creek Inn is a lovely choice just a few minutes from the wine valley.
It’s not a vineyard hotel, there are no vines around, only views of the golf course and the surrounding hills. The landscape feels calm and spacious, more like a countryside retreat than a typical wine resort.

The property features a pool, golf course, and an on-site restaurant - CorkFire Kitchen, where you can enjoy farm-to-table dishes made with local ingredients. It’s an excellent spot for a relaxed breakfast or a cozy dinner after a day of wine tasting.

The rooms are large, but a bit dated in style, they could use some refresh to match the beautiful natural setting outside. Still, waking up to the sound of birds and the view of the morning fog drifting over the golf fields has its own charm.

Temecula Creek Inn is ideal if you want to stay close to the wineries but return to a quiet, green place at the end of the day, perfect for nature escape and slow mornings.
Ponte Vineyard Inn
4-star hotel
Ponte Vineyard Inn is one of Temecula’s coziest hotels, surrounded by vineyards, gardens, and a beautiful pond with fountains that make you feel completely immersed in wine country.
The inn is part of Ponte Winery, a family-owned estate founded by the Ponte family, who started growing grapes in Temecula back in the late 1980s. Their focus has always been on approachable wines and warm hospitality, and the hotel reflects that same spirit of calm, comfort, and connection to the vineyards.

The property also has a heated pool, different areas to sit outside under the sun, and a few dining options, including the Cellar downstairs. It’s one of the few full-service bars in Temecula, offering cocktails, small bites, and Trivia Thursday Night in the evening.
I’ve stayed in this hotel a few times, on the second floor, and it’s always a lovely experience. The rooms are spacious and bright, with balconies/patios overlooking the vineyards or the courtyard garden, or the pool area.

Also, it’s part of Ponte Winery, so you can walk from your room straight to the tasting room or the restaurant, everything is just steps away.
P.S. When you’re staying at this property you will get a free tastings for Ponte and Bottaia wineries.
Restaurant at Ponte
One of the most popular dining spots in Temecula wine country, surrounded by gardens and vineyards. The atmosphere is calm and sunlit during the day, and softly romantic by evening, with string lights and vineyard views stretching into the distance.
The menu focuses on seasonal, California-inspired cuisine. The ingredients come from local farms, and the dishes are beautifully balanced and pair perfectly with Ponte wines.
If you didn’t have time for a wine tasting earlier in the day, dinner here is a perfect chance to explore their wines by the glass or bottle. The staff is always happy to help you choose.

Bouquet restaurant
Bouquet Restaurant, located inside Ponte Vineyard Inn, offers a calm, garden-style setting, perfect for breakfast or a slow lunch surrounded by vineyards. There are tables both indoors and on the terrace, so you can choose between a cozy dining room or an open-air view of the gardens.

The menu focuses on fresh, seasonal ingredients with a California touch, and you can always order a glass of Ponte wine to go with your meal. It’s a lovely spot to start the day before heading out for tastings.
South Coast Winery Resort and Spa
4-star hotel
South Coast Winery Resort & Spa is one of Temecula’s largest and most established wine resorts, offering elegance, spaciousness, and a vineyard-surrounded setting in every direction. It has everything in one place: a full-production winery, tasting room, restaurant, pool, spa, and villas scattered across the property.

I didn’t stay overnight here, so I can’t comment on the rooms. However, I did spend time walking around the property and had dinner at their restaurant.
Some villas are with patios that open directly to the vines, you can literally step outside with your morning coffee and watch the sunrise over the vineyards. The overall atmosphere is calm and resort-like, making it an ideal spot for a weekend of relaxation and indulgence. Its location is right next to Ponte Vineyard Inn, so you can easily visit both in one stay.

South Coast is also one of the most awarded wineries in Southern California, having earned multiple titles as California State Winery of the Year. Their wines cover a wide range, from crisp Chardonnay and Viognier to rich Cabernet Sauvignon and Zinfandel.
The property features The Vineyard Rose Restaurant, where you can enjoy local dishes paired with estate wines, and a spa that makes it easy to turn a simple getaway into a proper retreat.

If you’re looking for a classic wine-country charm, South Coast Winery Resort & Spa is one of the most complete options in Temecula.
Other properties to stay
These hotels are on my list for the future trips.

Temecula may not be as famous as Napa or Sonoma, but that’s part of its charm. It’s more personal, more relaxed. It’s a place where you can meet the people behind the wines, watch sunsets over the vines, and truly slow down.
Every visit feels a little different, but it always leaves the same impression - warmth, and that quiet joy of being surrounded by vineyards.
