A sweet journey through places in Los Angeles

Exploring the best pastry and dessert spots in the City of Angels.

You should know one thing about me: I'm a total sweet tooth! There's nothing I love more than having something deliciously sweet with my morning tea; it's like starting the day with a bit of happiness.

But beyond my daily treats, I love exploring unique desserts, discovering new pastry spots, and hunting for exciting flavor combinations.

So, why not share some of my favorite places with pastries and sweets in Los Angeles? Whether you're into classic or unique desserts, I've got some delicious finds to share.

Artelice patisserie

A modern French pastry opened in 2017 by brothers Farid and Saeed Azarang. There is no detailed information about the brothers, except that they are passionate and dedicated to quality.

In Artelice, you can find cakes, eclairs, macarons, croissants, cookies, and hot drinks like coffee and tea.

The main reason I love this place is the macarons. They are like in France, with a soft filling and a perfectly crisp outer shell. Yummy. My favorites are Yuzu, Blueberry, Milk Chocolate Passion Fruit, and Milk Chocolate Earl Grey.

Plus, it's the only place you can get macarons in a thick, transparent container that keeps them fresh in the fridge for much longer, unlike the usual cardboard packaging, which dries them out in a few days.

🥐 Croissants are another great reason to visit Artelice. They offer more than 15 different fillings, ranging from classic flavors to some surprisingly delicious creations:

  • Cinnamon Croissant (taste of Christmas)

  • Persian Princess (Rose and orange blossom dough with pistachio filling)

  • Matcha Croissant (with matcha chocolate)

🍰 When it comes to cakes, I highly recommend:

  • Exotic - with mango, passion fruit, and pineapple.

  • Valentino – combination of dark chocolate and raspberry.

Honestly, just writing this makes me hungry; I might need to make a pastry run soon.)

🎤 Interesting fact: Artelice Patisserie has had the honor of providing desserts for the Grammy Awards multiple times, including in 2024!

Artelice Patisserie is a must-visit for pastry lovers. Its dedication to quality and creativity in every bite makes it one of the best spots for modern French pastries in Los Angeles. Be aware: once you try their sweets, you will return for more.)

There are currently three locations: Burbank, Studio City, and West Los Angeles (images from this location). No reservation is needed.

Bianca bakery

It is one of my favorite spots in Culver City, and I've been coming here since it opened in 2019. If you know me, you already know my top recommendation: the tomato bisque with avocado toast. But what makes this place truly special isn't just the restaurant; it's also an incredible bakery.

Federico Fernandez, a pastry chef at Bianca, is originally from Argentina and has an impressive background, including his time at the Four Seasons Hotel Los Angeles. He gained recognition for creating a chocolate replica of the hotel, which featured 200 rooms. Can you imagine it? It is amazing!

Bianca has a warm, welcoming feel, whether you’re here for a quick bite or a long, relaxed brunch. The mix of rustic charm and modern touches makes it the kind of place where you instantly feel at home.

🍪 The bakery blends Italian, French, and Argentinian influences, combining classic flavors and creative twists. It offers a fantastic selection of freshly baked sweet breads, cakes, croissants, and cookies.

☕️ In addition to pastries, you can enjoy a variety of delicious lattes (Matcha, Vanilla, Spanish, Caramel…), a classic espresso or macchiato, or even hot chocolate or tea.

Whenever I'm here, I can't resist grabbing a few packages of Cantucci (the classic Italian biscotti) with pistachios and homemade granola.

Some delicious items to try:

  • Lemon Blueberry Bread

  • Olive Oil Cake

  • Gluten-free brownie

💡Here's a little secret: if you ever need a custom cake for a special occasion, call the bakery, and they'll make something delicious.

The combination of great food, an incredible bakery, and the passion behind it makes this spot truly special. If you haven’t been here yet, this is your sign to visit.

The Pie Room by Curtis Stone

The Pie Room brings Australian-inspired baking to the heart of Beverly Hills. The space has a charming, bistro-like feel, with small round tables, a wall mirror, and shelves filled with pastry stands, crockery, and books. It’s not a big cafe, but it is cozy and intimate.

🥧 It offers a selection of sweet and savory pies, Viennese pastries, fine wines, and hot drinks. Whether you’re here for a croissant, a meat pie, or a perfectly paired glass of wine, this beautiful spot is a great choice.

Why is it good? Because of the chef.

Curtis Stone is an Australian chef—you've probably heard of him or even seen him on the MasterChef show. He's behind one of the notable places in Los Angeles - Gwen, a Michelin-starred butcher shop and restaurant in Hollywood. Now, at The Pie Room, you can taste some of Gwen's finest farmhouse cheeses and house-made charcuterie, all wrapped in delicious pastry.

What to try? Start with the pastry you love the most. I'm sure it'll be a delightful experience. Or use my favourite method: choose with your eyes!

Some delicious items to try:

  • Pain au Apricot (with pistachios)

  • Yuzu Raspberry Tart

  • Beef & Burgundy Pie

🍷 It is rare to find a casual pastry spot with a wine menu. Surprise! Surprise! The Pie Room has it. The selection of wines by the glass is primarily European, offering the perfect pairing for a pie, salad, or sandwich (hot or cold).

Curtis Stone’s culinary expertise, high-quality ingredients, and cozy atmosphere make it a hidden gem for food and wine lovers in Beverly Hills.

Bottega Louie WEHO

Every corner of Bottega Louie is visually stunning: high ceilings, marble accents, and an open kitchen concept create a vibrant atmosphere and make it a modern LA hotspot.

Bottega Louie is a mix of Italian restaurants and French patisserie in one place. It has the largest (in my opinion) pastry counter in LA, displaying colorful macarons, elegant tarts, cakes, eclairs, and other sweet treats.

The patisserie also offers a selection of beautifully packaged gift boxes in-store and online. If you plan to gift macarons, this is the perfect place! The boxes are packed with love and have an elegant design with a cute bow on the side.

🍰 Some of Bottega Louie's most famous creations:

  • Le Grand Macaron is a larger version of the classic macaron, filled with delicious creams, fresh fruits, or flavored ganache.

  • Le Noir Cake: Layers of chocolate sponge cake with rich milk and dark chocolate ganache, perfect for true chocolate lovers

Some delicious items to try:

  • Fresh beignets

  • Celebration Cake

  • Almond pistachio strawberry cake

  • Macaroons: mango, salted caramel, toasted coconut, seasonal taste

💡Good to Know:
Bottega Louie has a website shop and an app. As a member of the app, you can earn rewards and order macarons, coffee, pastries, and viennoiseries for pickup. Some items are available for shipping: gift boxes, gift cards, candy boxes, macaron boxes, chocolate, and preserves.

Bottega Loui is an excellent spot for a morning date if you want something sweet in a fancy atmosphere.

It has two locations: WEHO (my images from here) and downtown LA.

The bakery uses traditional French techniques, imported ingredients, and a unique baking process to create high-quality bread and pastries.

The space is perfect for grabbing a morning pastry with coffee or enjoying a relaxed French-style breakfast or lunch on the patio. The atmosphere and location of this place are for slowing down and savoring every bite.

Pâtisserie selection features delicate tarts, éclairs, and even gluten-free treats like the Opera Chocolate Cake and macarons. But Sweet Wheat is more than just a bakery. The menu offers savory items like salads, pizzas, and sandwiches, giving you plenty of choices beyond sweets.

🥖 What makes it special? A commitment to excellence in bread-making. Its breads undergo a slow 48-hour fermentation process, allowing the flavors to develop fully and creating a beautiful, crisp crust with a soft, fluffy feeling.
